• Tom recommended this book on 12 April 2012 I was one of Professor Kramer's students in 1970, his last year teaching at Penn. He was very lyric about scholarship in his final year, but dont make the mistake that he was lax. He made certain that I, perhaps among his weakest students, was going to understand Ancient Near Eastern Studies. I was an undergraduate in essentially a graduate course.   An excellent introduction to Sumer and most of it is still relevent.
